Paid Ads 101: Google & Meta Ads for Online Stores

Paid ads can scale a store fast or burn cash fast. Here's how beginners run Google and Meta ads profitably, in any market.

Done right, paid ads are the fastest way to scale a proven product. Done wrong, they're the fastest way to lose money. The difference is discipline, not budget.

Don't advertise an unproven store

Ads amplify what already works. If your product page doesn't convert organic visitors, fix that first, ads will only multiply the leak.

Match the platform to intent

Google Search captures people already looking ("buy X"), high intent, great for known products. Meta (Facebook/Instagram) creates demand with visuals, better for discovery and impulse buys.

Start small and measure

Begin with a modest daily budget on one product and one audience. Track cost per purchase, not clicks or likes. Kill what loses, scale what wins.

Know your numbers

If your average order profit is $20, you can't pay $25 to acquire a customer, unless they buy again. Keep acquisition cost below order profit (or lifetime value) and ads become a growth engine.
