Pricing Strategy & Psychology for Online Stores

Price is the fastest lever you have on profit, and the easiest to get wrong. Here's how to price for both sales and margin.

A small price change flows straight to profit, no extra traffic needed. Yet most new stores price by guesswork. Here's a better way.

Start from true cost

Add product cost, shipping, payment fees, packaging, and a share of your ad spend. Your price must clear all of that and leave profit, before you think about what looks "nice".

Don't compete only on price

There's always someone cheaper. Compete on trust, speed, presentation, and service instead, buyers happily pay more for a better experience.

Use proven psychology

Anchoring (show the higher "compare at" price), charm pricing (19.99 vs 20), and bundles all lift conversion and average order value when used honestly.

Test and revisit

Prices aren't permanent. Raise them on your bestsellers and watch what happens, you'll often find demand barely moves while profit jumps.
